
Stop the Bathroom Mold Before It Starts
Most people think bathroom heaters are just for that shivering feeling when you step out of the shower. But there’s a much bigger reason we build them the way we do. It’s about fighting a war against mold. Here is how it actually works. We use shortwave infrared lamps in these units. Instead of just warming the air, these beams punch right through the moisture on your walls and ceilings and heat the actual surface. Mold loves a damp, stagnant room. By cranking up the surface temperature quickly, we basically force the water out of your walls. It evaporates fast. When that happens, mold spores can’t find a place to grip, so they just… don’t grow. Now, you might wonder why we obsess over the “IP44” rating. In plain English? It means the unit is sealed tight. Nothing larger than 1mm gets inside, and it can handle water splashing from any direction. That’s why you can safely put these right above your shower without worrying about a disaster. We also use quartz glass. It’s tough. It handles the sudden jump from cold to scorching hot without cracking. You’ll notice these heaters get hot—fast. That’s on purpose. You want to flip the room from “steamy sauna” to “bone dry” before the humidity has a chance to settle into your paint. But a quick heads-up on the install. These high-wattage lamps pull a lot of power. If you’re putting in a few of these, double-check your circuit breakers. There’s a bit of a power spike the second you flip the switch. One last thing. We design the reflectors to push the heat downward to create a “dry zone” where you stand. But the very top corners of the room might stay a bit cooler. If you have really high ceilings, I’d suggest pairing the heater with a decent exhaust fan. The infrared lamps dry the surfaces, and the fan sucks the wet air out of the room. Together, they’re a powerhouse.
