
Stop Dealing with Dying Heat Lamps
Here is the frustrating thing about most infrared lamps: they don’t just “pop” and die. Instead, they slowly fade away. You might notice cold spots popping up in your poultry coop, or you realize your birds aren’t as cozy as they should be. The bulb is still technically “on,” but it’s just not putting out the heat it used to. To fix it, most people just crank up the power or buy way more lamps than they actually need. It’s a waste. We decided to fix that. We built our lamps to hit a 5,000-hour lifespan without that annoying drop-off in heat.
Why lamps lose their punch
If you look at an old bulb, the glass often looks cloudy. That’s not dirt. It’s actually the tungsten filament evaporating and sticking to the inside of the glass. Once that happens, the heat gets trapped inside the bulb instead of hitting your animals. We handle this by tweaking the halogen cycle. By getting the gas pressure inside the tube just right, we basically force that evaporated tungsten back onto the filament where it belongs. The result? The glass stays clear. The heat stays strong.
Built to actually last
We use high-purity quartz glass because it can handle the “shock” of being turned on and off all day. Cheaper glass gets brittle and cracks. We also calibrated the filaments to avoid those tiny “hot spots” that usually cause a bulb to burn out way too early. It just means a consistent heat footprint. You won’t find yourself climbing a ladder every few months to swap out a lamp just because the heat dipped by 20%.
A quick word of caution
These lamps are powerhouses, and they put out some serious heat. If you’re installing a bunch of these, please check your wiring. And for the love of everything,**don’t use cheap plastic fixtures.**They will warp. Stick to ceramic or metal mounts. You want to make sure your hardware doesn’t melt long before the lamp actually reaches its 5,000-hour mark.
