
Getting Heat Right in Automated Brooding
When you’re running an automated brooding setup, you know the drill. If the temperature is off by just a few degrees, your chicks start huddling or stressing, and that’s the last thing you want. We built our infrared lamps specifically for these systems because we wanted something that reacts instantly.
How the heat actually works
We went with high-purity quartz glass and tungsten filaments. Why? Because they heat up fast. Really fast. This is huge when your automation system is tweaking the temperature based on sensor data in real-time. Instead of trying to warm up the entire room with hot air—which usually just drifts away—these lamps beam energy straight to the birds. It’s more efficient, and it keeps your power bill from spiking.
The nuts and bolts
We kept the build simple. We use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors, so they click right into place without any fuss. Inside, there’s a halogen-filled envelope. That’s just a fancy way of saying the filament won’t evaporate, so your heat stays steady for thousands of hours. You can pick the wattage that fits your space. Just a heads-up: if you go with the high-wattage tubes, give them some breathing room. You don’t want “hot spots” where the birds get cooked in one corner while others are shivering.
Putting them to work
Think of these as a smarter, more affordable alternative to those pricey imports. We’ve tuned the light spectrum so the chicks’ bodies actually absorb the heat rather than letting it bounce off. They plug right into your PLC dimming circuits. But here is a pro tip: these things gethotat the socket. Make sure your housing can handle the heat, or you’ll end up with warped plastic mounts. The goal is simple: a steady, warm blanket of heat across the whole line. No cold zones, no stressed birds. Just a comfortable environment for them to grow.
