Making Smart Heat Actually Work in Wet Spaces

Heat That Doesn’t Make You Wait
Most heaters try to warm up the air, which takes forever. Infrared is different. It sends out waves that hit your skin or the wall and turn into heat instantly. We use short-wave emitters for this. Setting Up the Brains
To get that “one-click” feel, we hook the heater up to a smart relay or a Zigbee/Matter controller. But just turning it on and off is boring. The way to really do this right is to pair it with a motion sensor and a temperature probe. Here’s how it works in the real world: You walk into the bathroom at 6 AM. The sensor sees you and notices the room is a freezing 17°C. The relay clicks, the heater kicks in at full blast, and you aren’t shivering while you brush your teeth.
A Few Things to Watch Out For
There are a couple of catches. These lamps pull a lot of power. If you’re putting three or four of them on one circuit, make sure your wiring can handle the load. You don’t want to be standing in the dark because you tripped a breaker. Also, remember that IPX4 is for splashes, not swimming. Don’t point a high-pressure hose directly at the casing. One last tip: use a smart dimmer or a PWM controller. Once the initial “cold shock” is gone and the room feels cozy, you can dial the heat back. It keeps you from overheating and helps the lamps last a lot longer. Plus, your electric bill will thank you.
